What is PAWS?

Toledo Animal Rescue is committed to helping our community thrive. PAWS, or Pet Away Worry and Stress, was founded with the idea in mind to bring everyone (people and animals alike) the chance to share a smile. Pet therapy has been proven to decrease cortisol (stress hormone) levels and lower blood pressure, bring a sense of comfort and reduce feelings of loneliness, manage pain levels, and increase social/behavioral skills.

If interested in the PAWS Program, Toledo Animal Rescue staff would bring shelter animals of our choosing to a pre-approved location to socialize with your group.

This is a FREE service, although monetary or wishlist donations are always appreciated to help us continue our mission of caring for homeless and abandoned animals.

Who is eligible for PAWS?

EVERYONE! Whether it's a group of schoolchildren learning to read, bringing comfort to an assisted living facility, providing college students with a quick study break, socializing with people with disabilities, or even an organized de-stress event at your work, anyone qualifies for our pet therapy service.
